Laang Speedway will roar into life this Saturday Night 3rd March, when Round 5 of the FGBMFI.org Formula 500 Stampede Series invades the 280 metre clay way.

24 nominations have been received with drivers having the final chance to race at Laang with the track set to host the 2012 Australian Title over Easter.

After last weekends round at Redline Raceway, Ballarat ended in controversy, many drivers will be looking to put last weekend’s results behind them and build some momentum heading into the Victorian Title the following weekend at Blue Ribbon Raceway, Horsham.

Defending Stampede Series champion James Aranyosi heads a stellar field. After finishing in 8th at Ballarat “Azza” will be looking to recapture the same form that netted him last seasons championship.

Last time the “Pocket Rockets” raced at Laang, O’Keeffe was in a commanding lead before contact with a lapped car sent him into the wall. With the speed he has O’Keeffe will be looking for a good result heading into the big events.

With victory in the last round, Sullivan is headed into this weekend’s race at his home track brimming with confidence. After winning the first round of the series Chad missed a few races here in Victoria with car issues. But he’s back and in a big way. Look for the famous V5 to be up the front on Saturday night.

2 former Stampede Series champion have also nominated for this weekends event. 2009 Series champ, Dale Sinclair took the win in Round 3 of the series at Western Speedway, Hamilton and experienced engine problems last week. Dale will be looking for a return to form heading into the month of money.

2010 champ Steven Horton is heading into this weekends meeting with some good results behind him. After acquiring a Sawyer Chassis halfway through the season, Horton is now starting to get a handle of the car and the good results are starting to come.

Mat Turner has had a break out season so far. After finishing on the podium at a round of the Oval Express Super series and finishing in the top 10 of the Oval Express Super Series Turner is enjoying the best season so far in his home made ASF Chassis. Mat started on pole last weekend and will be gunning for another good showing.

Will Carroll, Mitch Whiting and Ash Sinclair all enjoyed podium results during rounds of the Oval Express Super Series and have also finished on the podium at Stampede series rounds this season. All 3 youngsters are enjoying stellar seasons so far.

Tim Hicks, Brett Willsher, Andrew Morton, Brett Dillon, Tyler Carter, Dylan Willsher, Adrian Christian, former Avalon Jr Track champion Josh Fort, former Victorian Street Stock champion Justin Sadler, Shane Van Duynhoven, AJ Blackstock, rookie Adam Turner, rookie Robert Trewartha, Andrew Rae and Jarryd Irving have also nominated and will be looking for a strong result before the Victorian Title.

Sign in Time is 5pm with hot laps starting at 6pm. Heat racing will begin shortly after. Each car will participate in 2 heats and a 35 lap A-Main.
The winner of this season’s FGBMFI.com Formula 500 Stampede Series will also win a brand new Crossfire 250cc Motorcycle valued at $2800 kindly supplied by Ken and Cheryl Willsher of Crossfire Motorcycles & ATV’s.
