The Penultimate round of the 2011/2012 FGBMFI.org Formula 500 Stampede Series is set to invade Horsham’s Blue Ribbon Raceway this Saturday Night, 24th March. 23 cars have nominated with the points battle heating up.
Heading the nominations is the current Victorian champion Jye O’Keeffe. O’Keeffe picked up his Victorian Title win at this very same track just 2 weeks ago and will be eager to continue his form at the track.
Defending Stampede Series Champion James Aranyosi has been Mr Consistency throughout the series. Picking up multiple podium positions sees Aranyosi knocking on the door of the top spot. With O’Keeffe missing out on a top 10 result last weekend at Darlington, Aranyosi has closed in on the series lead.
Last start feature winner Dale Sinclair has also nominated along with his brother Ash. The Sinclair boys have been in scorching form with both drivers picking up multiple podium finishes and are knocking on the top 3.
Chad Sullivan has also nominated for his final hit out before the Australian Title to be held at his home track. Since the Oval Express series Sullivan has had a limited campaign and will be looking for a strong finish.
Kevin Freeman will have his second run for the season. Joining him from Bannockburn is Justin Sadler. Sadler is a former Victorian Street Stock champion and is sitting in the top 10 of the series.
Mat Turner is enjoying a career best season. After finishing 4th at Simpson in the Oval Express Series the likeable Victorian went on to finish 9th overall in the series. With plenty of podium finishes this season Turner is on the brink of a feature win.
Joining these drivers in the field is Ash Hicks, Brett Willsher, Andrew Morton, Brett Dillon, Tyler Carter, Mitch Whiting, Rookie Stuart Reading, Adrian Christian, Shane Van Duynhoven, AJ Blackstock, Adam Turner, Steven Horton, Robert Trewartha and Jarryd Irving.
In the final hit out before the 2012 Australian Formula 500 Title all drivers will be looking to fine tune their cars in readiness for the biggest event in Victoria for some years. Racing will start at 6.30 with all cars competing in 2 10 lap heats and a 20 lap final.
The Victorian Formula 500 Association would like to thank the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International and Ken and Cheryl Willsher from Crossfire Motorcycles & ATV’s for their valued support of the 2011/2012 Victorian Formula 500 Stampede Series.
