Australian Formula 500 Title Set For Green Flag

There is just 2 days before the opening lap of the 2012 Australian Formula 500 Championship is turned with the 56 drivers converging on Laang Speedway for the 2 day event.

Final preparations are being made to the Laang Facility with major works being completed in the last 2 months. Liam Williams is the defending champion and his form this year suggests he will be very hard to beat.

Jye O’Keeffe is the form driver in Australia at the moment and along with Williams will lead the home state charge. Matt Brown has shown some good form and after picking up 3 feature wins in the Oval Express Series this season he will go into the title as a favourite.

All cars will be in the pits tomorrow for scrutineering and practise before final preparations are completed for night 1 of the title. Each car will contest 3 heats on the opening night (Friday). A final round of heats along with the finals will be contested on Saturday night.

The Victorian Formula 500 Association would like to thank the Committee, Officials and volunteers from Laang Speedway for hosting the 2012 Australian Title.
Live results will be uploaded onto this website throughout the weekend.
