F500’s WA are ready to crown the winner of the 2011-12 West Coast Series, this Saturday the 14th of April at Manjimup Speedway.
After a lengthy break in the calendar since the previous round in Bunbury, 21 drivers have nominated for the final chance to make their mark and end the season on a high. Mark House leads the series by just 6 points from Western Australian Champion David Sinagra, with Jason Pryde holding a slim lead over fourth-placed man Aaron Higgins.
The top 3 points leading drivers have dashed back across the Nullarbor, after competing in the Australian Formula 500 Championships held over Easter weekend at Laang in Victoria, along with other nominated drivers Matt Brown, Jason Priolo and Bill Richards. With Manjimup measuring in at 520 metres, drivers will need to adapt quickly to the wide-open spaces the circuit has to offer, with Laang measuring 285 metres in comparison.
Whilst House and Sinagra battle for the championship, the event is wide-open with several drivers at short odds for the round win. Matt Brown will steer the Terry Kowal owned car, which was driven by Thomas Davies in Laang at the title, and was piloted by American AJ Hopkins at the Bunbury WCS Round. Jason and Andrew Priolo have shown plenty of car speed consistently this season, and Cody Turrachio and Shane Andersson have also been on the podium in previous rounds.
The field also sees the return of some familiar names in WA's F500 ranks, with Tim Winters having a steer of Matt Brown's rocket ship, and current Perth Motorplex Champion and series leader Wayne Dymock returning to run the final round.
