O’keeffe Wins Vict F500 Jettco Triple Crown Series Round 2

Current Victorian Champion Jye O’Keeffe weaved his way through traffic last Saturday night to win round 2 of the Jettco Triple Crown Series at Simpson Speedway.
With his win O’Keeffe also pocketed a cool $1000.

O’Keeffe started third behind Liam Williams and James Aranyosi. With all cars speeding through the opening corner and down the back straight, contact between several cars saw Rob Rankin ride out a nasty flip. With officials not seeing the flipped car on the back straight cars sped their way through turns 1 and 2 before slowing rapidly. Aranyosi meanwhile didn’t see this and rode the rear wheel of Williams and flipped.

The race suffered many caution periods and with 4 laps remaining Mat Turner rode the wall down the front stretch and rode out a nasty flip. With Williams leading the restart O’Keeffe snuck past him and led the remaining 4 laps to take the win. Williams held on for 2nd with Ash Sinclair finishing in 3rd. Will Carroll was next in 4th with Australian Champion Jess Moulden rounding out the top 5.

Mitch Whiting finished in 6th. He was followed by Dale Sinclair, Robert Trewartha, Steven Horton, Ryan O’Keefe, Brett Willsher, Jess Ellston and Jaryd Irving. Grant Stansfield was running in the top 5 before mechanical dramas forced him infield. Joining Stansfield, Rankin, Aranyosi and Turner on the infield was Lee Hardess, James Waters and Tyler Carter.

Williams won the dash earning him pole posistion. Aranyosi was next with O’Keeffe, Ash Sinclair, Dale Sinclair, Stansfield, Turner, Trewartha, Willsher and Moulden. Moulden was running in the top 4 before slowing insight of the chequered flag.

The B-Main was taken by Carroll after running a majority of the race in 2nd. Mitch Whiting was next with Irving and Horton rounding out the top 3. Heartbreak for Mathew Symons who was leading the race before spinning in turn 4 and out of the race.

Moulden took the opening heat of the night after starting from 8th. Fresh off her Australian Title victory Moulden wasted no time in speeding around the top to take the win. Aranyosi also sped from the rear of the field to finish 2nd. He was followed by Jye O’Keeffe.

The final heat race of the night was taken out by Williams. The former national champion weaved his way through traffic to defeat Symons and Trewartha. With the winners from both heats coming from the rear of the field, this showed that the track was in sublime condition.

Aranyosi started the night in fine form taking out the wicked time award with a time of 13.714. Williams was next with 13.742. O’Keeffe timed in 3rd quick with 13.830 followed by Dale Sinclair with 13.909 and Moulden with a 13.935 to round out the top 5.
