Second generation driver Matt Brown won the 30th running of the Bunny Burrowes Memorial for Formula 500’s last night at the Makit Narrogin Hardware Speedway and in doing so won the $5000 CASH on offer from the Perth TQ Car Club.
2009 winner Steven Ellement gave a gallant performance to come in second with Q1 Charlie Brown in third.

After 12 heats three drivers tied for pole position. Matt Brown, Charlie Brown and Thomas Davies were equal on 87 points after each having a first, second & a third in their three heats. Pole was determined by the fastest lap time with Matt Brown in front of Thomas Davies & Charlie Brown.

The final was conducted in a light drizzle with heavy rain threatening and although conditions were not ideal all 20 drivers put on a great show for the large crowd in attendance. Several stoppages saw the withdrawal of a few cars more notably that of Victorian Liam Williams after he collected the wall in turn 3 on lap six. Thomas Davies was the awarded the hard luck award after coming second for 16 of the 20 lap final before his motor expired in a big way.

Brown now becomes only the second father / son combination to win this prestigious event. Father Robbie (1985 Champion) was trackside last night & was elated with Matt’s performance. Brown can now add this result to his impressive resume which includes the Australian F500 Champion, Oval Express Series Champion & WA State F500 Champion.
