Formula 500 Sa - Grant Seeley Memorial Preview

Sunline Speedway Waikerie will host the return of the Grant Seeley Memorial this Saturday night and it has attracted the largest formula 500 field to assemble at the track since the venue held the South Australian title some years ago.

Leading the charge will be Whyalla Speedster Angelo Karoussis in his lightning quick S27 Stallard and will be keen to add to the list of feature wins already this season. Scott Dungey will make the trip to unfamiliar territory when he heads to Waikerie. Dungey has already racked up two feature wins this year at Murray Bridge and will be keen to add another venue to the list.

“The Iceman” Damien Eve is a previous winner at the venue and is always quick anywhere he goes and will start as one of the favourites this weekend. Unlucky not to have a feature win this year is “The Rocket” Simon Reichelt in his Dutchman Performance XXX Chassis. Reichelt returns after an Australian Championship campaign and dramas at the recent Murray Bridge meeting and will be looking to turn this around.

Brock Hallett Motorsport will again field two cars but with a new driver line up with Kimmii Janee Strother taking the wheel of the Q13 St Agnes Meats Stallard. Strother, the partner of Australia number 3 Brock Hallett, has a dirt kart background and has already turned impressive practise laps in the Formula 500. Tim Caddy will join the team this week as a driver when he slides behind the wheel of the s48 Penrite Oils Dutchman Stallard. Caddy drove a Formula 500 for many years before a short stint in 360 sprintcars before living in Darwin for five years and returning prior to this season. Caddy already has seat time recently in Speedcars and Wingless sprints and this meeting has special significance as he was a close friend of the race namesake, Grant Seeley.

Making his debut in the ex Jye O’Keeffe Stallard will be Shaun Brown and he will be joined by regulars Dave Graves, Joe Mercorella and Michael Wise while Adam May will make his second start in the class.

With trophies on hand for the top three and the pride of winning a memorial race, the night shapes up to be an exciting event.
