Tink takes Formula 500's SA season opener at the Bridge



The Bordertown bandit, Brad Tink has taken the honors at the Season opener at Murray Machining and Shed Murray Bridge Speedway after a race long duel with local young gun, Scott Dungey.

Sixteen cars were on hand including visiting Victorian ace, Dylan Willsher who took out an exciting heat one on a tricky wet slick track, which claimed the s99 Shaun Brown after he looped his Stallard in turn one and was tagged by Michael Wise. Claiming second in heat one was Brooks ahead of rookie Rory Stevenson.

Heat two saw Dungey take his first heat win of the night ahead of Tink who would battle together all night, ahead of Mercorella showing great pace to take third.

Heat three saw Tink take the heat win ahead of Miller, while Brown recovered from his first heat drama to claim third. In heat four, Dungey again claimed the win ahead of the Whyalla Wizz, Angelo Karoussis and Dylan Willsher third

The feature was set at a high pace on a near perfect track surface, where Tink finally overcame Dungey to take the win. Karoussis took third after moving up from the ninth starting position ahead of Ross miller and Chris Brooks rounding out the top five.

Claiming round one of the Speedway Australia rookie of the year, was Josh Michelmore in his S96 Hyper. Josh also finished sixth in the feature race ahead of Lisa walker who finished seventh, third in the rookie series was Latisha Helya after a solid first up run to claim tenth in the feature over all. Other rookies on hand was Shaun Brown and Rory Stevenson who both failed to finish.

The formulas now have a couple of weeks off before again hitting the Murray Bridge clay on November 10, which will also be round two of the Speedway Australia rookie of the year series.
