The formula 500 rookies are ready for round two of the Speedway Australia Rookie of the Year Championship to be held a Murray Machining and sheds, Murray Bridge speedway.
Keen to extend his lead after taking the round one win will be Josh Michelmore in his s96 Hyper Chassis. Josh ultra fast in his debut to formula 500 racing in round one and finished a creditable sixth in the feature overall in a tough seasoned field.
Currently second in the rookie championship is “The Lady” Lisa Walker driving the Dave Graves owned s4 PACE Chassis. Lisa has made a smooth transition into the Formula 500 ranks while also continuing a busy dirt kart race program.
Another young lady making her way into the class this year is Latisha Helyar in the s93 PACE, who currently sit’s third in the championship after a solid opening round. Latisha comes into the class without any prior racing experience, which makes her result even more impressive.
Two drivers who will be looking for a better result this weekend will be Shaun Brown in the s99 and Rory Stevenson in the s22, who both failed to finish in the opening round after both showing early speed.
Another rookie joining the ranks this weekend will be Brad Batten in the Clavell Family racing owned s17 PACE. Brad also has a history in dirt karts and will hope to hit the ground running this weekend.
