Speedway Australia Rookie of the year Championship round 3 – Renmark
Blistering hot temperatures will greet teams as they head to Riverland Speedway Renmark this Saturday for round 3 of the Speedway Australia Rookie of the year series but the action on track will just as hot as teams from around the country will also be in attendance.
Josh Michelmore will head up the list of rookies after taking out the opening two rounds of the championship in his lighting fast Hyper s96 machine. Taking up the fight to him with be “The Lady” Lisa Walker in the Dave Graves owned s4 Pace who currently sits second in the championship while, Rory Stevenson and Latisha Helyar will continue their battle who are tied in third position. Other rookies on hand will be local Shaun Brown in his s99 Stallard, Tyler Beasy in the v10 and new comer Aaron Hand will also compete for the first time in the s15.
A healthy numbers of locals will also make the trip including Angelo Karoussis making his way over from Whyalla in the s27 Able Transport Stallard and Joe Mercorella in his RTS R6 and Simon “The Rocket” Reichelt in the s51. Father and son pair, Keith and Adrian Flint will also make the trip in the v64 and v65 machines, while getting back into running regular meetings in South Australia
The meeting has also attracted Northern Territory pair from the Andorr team of Steve “The Freak Show” Anderson and Joe Orr in their beautifully prepared Hyper bullets. Also making a long journey is former SA now WA resident Jeremy Saffin in the WA83 machine. Saffin had originally made the trip over to compete in Speedweek but has changed plans to take in a meeting in his home state.
The meeting will be a prelude to the Riverland cup which will be held at the venue over Easter.
