Speedway Australia – F500 Rookie of the year series – Round Five
Round five of the Speedway Australia Formula 500 rookie of the year series heads to Whyalla’s Westline Speedway this Saturday night, where the series could be wrapped up with a round to go.
Josh Michelmore in his Simax Engineering S96 Hyper will look to wrap up the series if he can take victory in round five. He has been in sensational form all year after taking victory in all previous four rounds and comes off a high after taking victory in the Riverland Cup at Renmark Speedway recently.
“The Lady” Lisa Walker is the only driver who can now stop Michelmore taking the rookie Championship this year, however Whyalla will be the place to do it as Walker out ran Michelmore on the way to taking second place in the Christmas Cup held at the venue in December.
Looking to consolidate her position in the top three will be Latisha Helyar in the Captivation Gifts and Homewares s93 PACE Chassis. Helyar has had a consistent season gaining speed every meeting and will hope for another solid run this weekend.
After Whyalla, the Speedway Australia rookie of the year Championship heads to the Grand Final in Waikerie on May 18 which will double as the Grant Seeley Memorial.
