Rocky Rumble Final



23rd March The flying Formula 500 brigade rolled back into Rockhampton for the 3rd and final round of the Rocky Rumble series with a nomination of 20 cars (19 fronted). After the end of round 2 the series was still open with a few of the drivers in contention to win the series prize pool. Thankfully the rain stayed up north.
Round 1

Ht 1: results were 1st Mick Pronger (Bundaberg) 2nd Alan Iverson (Townsville) 3rd Charlie Brown (Brisbane) with Maroske / Cooper / Davison being the other finishers. Josh Pokarier halted this heat, when he lost his left rear off the car after sheering the wheel nut .

Ht 2: Were 1st Kaydon Iverson (Townsville) 2nd Nathan Pronger (Brisbane) 3rd Glen Underwood (Cairns) while the rest were Korte / Quagliata / Swindells. In this heat Kaydon Iverson broke the track record for the Formula 500?s recording a new record time of 13.545. Ben Smith from Bundaberg brought on the caution lights after coming to rest sitting up against the fence.

Round 2

Ht 3: 1st Nathan Pronger (Brisbane) 2nd Mick Pronger 3rd Paul Swindells (Maryborough) with the rest being Korte / Davison / Gilbertson

Ht 4: 1st Charlie Brown (Brisbane) 2nd Cody Maroske (Brisbane) 3rd Glen Underwood (Cairns) with the rest being Iverson K / Iverson A /Pokarier

Round 3

Ht 5: 1st Glen Underwood (Cairns) 2nd Charlie Brown (Brisbane) 3rd Nathan Pronger (Brisbane) the rest being Maroske / Iverson A / Scougall / Pokarier / Josefski. This heat had Maroske banished to the rear of field after being deemed to have jumped the start by the chief steward and Josefski putting on a piro tech show on the infield shooting out flames from his exhaust with a fuel related problem which was to plague him all night.

Ht 6: 1st Kayden Iverson (Townsville) 2nd Mick Pronger (Bundaberg) 3rd Paul Swindells (Maryborough) with the rest being Korte / Davison / Gilbertson. This heat had another driver sent rear of field for jumping the start being Davison

Final.
Glen Underwood took the win with Cody Maroske taking 2nd place and the battle weary car of Mick Pronger rounding out the top three. The rest of the finishers were Paul Swindells / Josh Pokarier / Daniel East /Owen Davison.

1st Charlie Brown 239 points
2nd Mick Pronger 236 points
3rd Nathan Pronger 213 points
4th Kayden Iverson 203 points
5th Glen Underwood 169 points
6th Jamie Korte 123 points
