Josh Michelmore took the honours in round five of the Speedway Australia Rookie of the year series at Westline Speedway Whyalla on Saturday April 13 and in the process become the series champion with one round to go.
Michelmore in his Simax Engineering S96 Hyper wrapped up the series by being the first rookie home in the feature and claimed second overall. This continues his perfect run in the series so far as he has also claimed maximum points in the first four rounds.
“The Lady” Lisa Walker claimed not only second in the rookie championship for the night by brining home the s4 Knuckles racing Pace Chassis in fourth overall in the feature and has now ensured that she finishes second overall in the championship with the final round to run.
Latisha Helyar in the Captivation Gifts and Homewares s93 PACE Chassis had another trouble free run and finished seventh overall in the feature to be the third rookie home and has also ensured that she will claim third in the championship with enough of a buffer back to fourth to secure that position.
