Firstly, thanks everybody for coming out and supporting the Jettco race at Darlington. It was a great sign for our class to see 20 cars show up this late in the season, I really appreciate the effort everybody made to get there.
For those of you that couldn’t make it, the racing was as good as I have seen since the Aussie titles at Laang last year, the track was a credit to all those involved at Darlington, just a little more tweaking on the profile and it will be a complete pleasure dome, cant wait…...
The racing was the real star of the show though, with time trials and fastest to the rear in both heats it all revolves around passing, and there was plenty of that. We went with a 2 X 20 lap A format for a change and it proved really popular, high points to the front for the first and a complete invert of the finishing order for the start of the second A. The combined points from the two determined the overall podium on the night.
The first A was a ripper, Azza got going to an early lead, but by mid race Shane Dyno had caught and passed him in lapped traffic, a few laps latter Azza was back in the lead but that left, SVD, Jye O’Keefe and Ash Sinclair racing for second like it paid $10,000. With all this happening Azza skipped off to the win, and those three cut each other up lap after lap, great show all round, SVD 2nd – Jye 3rd – Ash 4th
The second A was always going to be interesting, Matt O’Rourke and Robby Terrawartha lead from the start with Rob finally securing the lead about 3 laps in. At the back Azza got the early jump with Ash, Jye and SVD following from the back, Jye’s motor had been softening off all night and he finally pulled infield around seven laps in……… still in one piece and much appreciated!!
Although Rob was cruising out front, Steven Horton, Snowy (Matt O’Rourke), Jarred Irving, Terry Rankin, Dale Sinclair and a fast closing Lethal Lee VG were putting on a real show at the front. From the front to the back there was a lot of great racing, with everyone on the track contributing to a great race. Robby T - 1st - Lethal 2nd - Steven Horton - 3rd
In the end the 3 overall winners on the night were all locked on points! Ash Sinclair had a 4th & 6th, Lee Van Ginnekin a 8th & 2nd, and James Aranyosi a 1st & 9th. We used the fastest lap times from the first A to split them, even doing that it showed Azza turned a 12.330 in fresh air from the front, and Ash a 12.390 from the second row dicing for second, third or fourth, it was that close………………. 0.060
Once again thanks to all the racers for supporting the event, all the 500 club volunteers for running it, and Darlington for hosting it. Our dates for next year will be released soon, cant wait.
