Brock Hallett finished off his superb season by driving his Dutchman Performance s1 Stallard to Victory in the JD Couriers Grant Sealey Memorial at Sunline Speedway Waikerie on Saturday May 18.
On a bitterly cold night, the action was hot, especially between Hallett and Strathalbyn native, Scott Dungey who would eventually claim second in the feature with young gun, Josh Michelmore in his simex engineering s96 Hyper claiming third to also finish his rookie season in fine style.
Hallett opened his account by claiming in the heat one victory and on the way smashed the 10 lap record in the process. Not to be out done, Dungey then hit back by not only taking the heat two win but also then again lowered the new 10 lap record which has been set in the previous race.
This set about an interesting duel in the feature with the two heat winners starting off the front row with Hallett on pole but it was Dungey who got the jump early.
The two then cleared the rest on the field and looked like they would again create a new lap record before Simon Reichelt in his s51 Triple X came to a halt after suffering clutch issues.
At the restart Hallett put a slide job on Dungey for the lead going into turns one and two and held on to take the victory ahead of Dungey, while Michelmore had raced from a seventh starting position to claim third. Again claiming the honours for the last round of the Speedway Australia Rookie of the year championship, giving him a clean sweep of the series in the process
