SA Formula 500 King of the Bridge keeps getting bigger!



This year’s King of the Bridge for Formula 500’s is set to get even bigger after gaining extra support from Speedway Australia and KJR designs. The annual event held at Murray Machining and Sheds, Murray Bridge Speedway, is set for December 7.

Among the announcements is that the first place prize money will double to $1000 with an increase in prize money being paid to second and third placegetters.

Working with Murray Bridge Speedway, Formula 500’s South Australia has also announced that the event will follow a World Series Sprintcars type format. With drivers being seeded after hot laps into heats, with the fastest from the rear providing exciting heat racing.

From there, the top six will run off in a dash for pole position before the feature which has been increased to 25 laps, and will ensure the winner will have worked hard to be crowned "The King". The winner once again being crowned King in traditional style, complete with crown and robes.

Amongst the expected contenders will be 2012 champion "King Dylan Willsher" and previous winner Brock Hallett. Willsher drove with style in last year's race when he made a late race pass for the lead to become King, and enjoys racing at the Murray Bridge speedway complex

While current Australia 2 and South Australian Champion, Brock Hallett will again be expected to feature on his home track, where he has driven to victory on a number of occasions, including being crowned the 2011 King of the Bridge.

Hot shot locals including Karoussis, Dungey, Miller and Michelmore will also be in contention, along with a host of expected interstate stars, with interest already coming from all around Australia.

Formula 500’s South Australia is expected to make a number of announcements regarding the event as the meeting draws closer in December.
