The Perth TQ Car Club promoted Bunny Burrowes Memorial for Formula 500s will this season move from its traditional date, with the event being held earlier on Sunday 16th of March, 2014 at Narrogin Speedway.
With the National Formula 500 Championship to be held at the Perth Motorplex on Friday, March 14th & Saturday, 15th March 2014 and the WA Championship being held the following weekend at Kalgoorlie Speedway, the Perth TQ Car Club has decided to bring their prestigious Formula 500 race forward to coincide with these two huge events.
“It is too good of a opportunity for our club not to have the Bunny Burrowes Memorial in amongst what will be a big week of Formula 500 racing here in WA" said Perth TQ Car Club President Steve Adley. "We are anticipating a big field of eastern states competitors to contest the event with the National Title being held the previous two nights at the Perth Motorplex”
“We raised the idea of running the Bunny Burrowes on the same weekend as the National title with the WA Formula 500 association and they were all for the idea. The last couple of years we have been able to offer a $10,000 prize pool for the “Bunny” with $5000 going to the winner, which has been made possible due to the fantastic support of our sponsors, in particular Janssen’s Transport Service” Adley explained.
“We will offer the same prizemoney again in 2014 and it will be the 32nd running of this prestigious event that honours one of our club legends, Bernard George Burrowes or “Bunny” as he was affectionately known. The Perth TQ Car Club would like to thank the Narrogin Speedway Club for allowing us the opportunity to hold this race meeting earlier in the year” said Adley.
The race meeting will be a twilight meeting with racing starting at 3pm, and the meeting to be finished no later than 9pm to allow competitors and spectators the chance to return home that night.
The Bunny Burrowes Memorial has attracted some of the best Formula 500 drivers in the country for the last few years and the 2014 installment promises to be bigger and better than ever before.
