Formula 500's WA Fast Formulas

With their Australian Championship coming up later this season, a handful of Formula 500's took the chance to get some laps under their belts at the Perth Motorplex last night.

The field included a good mix of experienced drivers including Jason and Andrew Priolo, Brock Nanovich and Steven Gay along with rookies Chanelle Condren and Brendan Wright.

The opening race saw newcomer from Wingless Sprints, Adrian la Macchia, making a seamless transition as he led the field away in the opening laps. Behind him Ricky Drew and Andrew Priolo were battling it out for second place before the two came together, with Drew coming off second best and dropping a lot of positions. La Macchia continued to build his lead and Andrew Priolo set out after him, followed by Steven Gay and Brock Nanovich. The lead however proved to be too big and La Macchia came home with the win ahead of Priolo and Gay.

Race two saw Adrian Fogliani straight into the lead, with Andrew Priolo working incedibly hard on his outside. Behind them was the Mutli Scaffold Racing team of Jason Priolo and Brock Nanovich battling it out with the first race winner la Macchia. Andrew Priolo went high on Fogliani for the lead and Fogliani had a half lose, handing the lead to Priolo. Behind them cars were going four and five wide as they battled for position. The chequers came out just as a car spun on the track, with Andrew Priolo awarded the win from La Macchia and Nanovich.

The feature race saw only six cars take the green, with a quick restart after Adrian la Macchia became stranded on the front straight. The race got underway again, with Andrew Priolo taking the lead. He had a half lose in turn four and Steven Gay turned hard right to avoid him and ended up digging in and rolling his once pristine #19 machine over. He was unhurt and the race restarted, with just four cars left. La Macchia and Fogliani battled it out for the lead with Chanelle Condren in third as Andrew Priolo headed infield before coming back out on track in fourth place. Fogliani and La Macchia made slight contact but both recovered and continued to battle it out. La Macchia took over the point and began to pull away while Priolo managed to find his way past Condren for third. Priolo suddenly slowed and Condren gained the position back, while La Macchia got ahead to take the win from Fogliani and Condren.
