The Geraldton City Speedway will this weekend play host to a solid field of the pocket rocket Formula 500's, with the venue holding the opening round of the popular West Coast Series.
The series will be held over nine rounds at no less than seven tracks and with competitor numbers expected to increase as the divisions Australian Title draws closer, the West Coast Series is definitely going to be hard fought out.
This weekend’s event is headlined by the nomination of current West Australian Champion Andrew Priolo. Priolo won the opening night meeting at the Perth Motorplex a few weeks ago and will be looking to continue his strong form this weekend.
Steven Ellement and Troy Johnson rounded out the podium for the opening night and both are nominated for action this Saturday night and will be looking to round up Priolo and improve on their previous finishes. Both have shown that they have the speed and skill, now they just need a little bit of luck to go their way.
The Multi Scaffold Racing team of Jason Priolo and Brock Nanovich have also nominated for the show, with Priolo claiming a fifth in his last time out while Nanovich had a few issues which saw him finish on the infield. Both will be looking for better results this time out and are sure to only get quicker as the season progresses.
Former Australian champion Matt Brown is also in the field and will be looking to redeem himself after a few issues and some bad luck plagued his opening race meeting.
Bill Richards, Todd Broadwood, Jamie Pages, Brent Lockwood and Aaron Fullgrabe have all also nominated for their first hit out of the summer season and will be looking to dust off the cobwebs quickly as they search to make their way through the pack and record a good result.
The stage is set, the drivers are ready, the track is prepared and the fans are excited. The only thing left to do now is get your backside trackside this weekend at Geraldton City Speedway for what is sure to be a real rip snorter!
