Formula 500's WA- Ellement goes one better at Manjimup

After finishing second in the feature race just last week at Geraldton, Steven Ellement has this weekend gone one better as he claimed the feature race in round two of the Racemate West Coast Series at Manjimup Speedway. In fact Ellement was unbeaten throughout the nights racing, with no one quite able to match his speed.

That being said, Ellement was pushed all the way to the line by round one winner Andrew Priolo, but in the end he proved too strong, as he crossed the line by less than half a second ahead of Priolo, with Thomas Davies coming home third.

The night opened with hot laps and it was Matt Brown who was fastest with a 16.545, only just ahead of Andrew Priolo with a 16.548. A Priolo then took out the opening heat, but it wasn’t Andrew, as brother Jason got a handle on last meetings engine issues and went on to record the win from Brown and Adrian La Macchia.

Heat two saw Ellement record the fastest lap of the night (16.463) as he began his unbeaten streak and claimed the win from Trystan Caley and Troy Johnson. He then repeated his efforts in heat three claiming the victory ahead of Adrian Fogliani and Glen Carstairs. Heat four saw an incident that took out Chris Dymock and Matt Brown, with Dymock out for the night while Brown was able to make the start for the A Main, but never fully recovered. The heat went to Andrew Priolo over Thomas Davies and Brock Nanovich.

For the second event in a row Ellement claimed the shootout event over Andrew Priolo while Davies was third while the mid-pack scramble went to Troy Johnson over Nanovich and Brent Lockwood.

The feature saw some awesome racing between Ellement and Andrew Priolo as they battled for the lead, swapping positions a number of times. Behind them the action was intense, with Adrian la Macchia finding himself on his side during the race. The race restarted and Ellement and Priolo continued to battle, with Ellement gaining the upper hand and recording the second fastest lap of the night (16.484). Ellement then went on to claim the win from Andrew Priolo and Davies.

The Racemate West Coast Series has a months break now before round three is held at Narrogin Speedway on the 14th of December, while the Formulas themselves will be back in action at the Perth Motorplex this coming weekend, the 23rd of November, for the annual King of Kwinana event, Stay tuned for all the details!
