Formula 500's WA -Ellement is the King!

Steven Ellement last night raced his way to two wins in a row as he claimed the King of Kwinana feature ahead of thirty two other drivers.

Ellement, who last weekend claimed the feature at Manjimup Speedway, dominated last nights feature, racing away from the rest of the field and then fighting his way through traffic as if it wasn't even there and increasing his lead each lap. Behind him Andrew Priolo and Thomas Davies battled for second, with Davies claiming the position before suddenly slowing and heading infield, giving the position to Andrew. However just one lap later he also slowed and headed infield, which gave Jason Priolo second while Matt Brown slotted into third. As the leading drivers crossed the line, the red lights came on for come back driver Phil Crofts who had flipped in turn one. Crofts up until that point had been having a strong night, with a third place in his opening heat.

Indeed the heat races were intense affairs with the opener going to Andrew Priolo over Troy Johnson and Jason Priolo. Jeff Prentis had a hairy moment early in the race as he went sideways with the rest of the field baring down on him, but somehow everyone avoided him and the race continued. Brendan Condren was a big mover in the race as he went from tenth to fifth in the opening laps before finishing in fourth while another comeback driver in Tim Winters started fourteenth and made his way into fourth before he suffered mechanical dramas and headed infield.

The second heat was solid win to Ellement as he crossed the line nearly two seconds ahead of second placed Thomas Davies and Brock Nanovich in third. Heat three saw Crofts leading the opening lap before Matt Brown moved past Brent Lockwood for second, then under Crofts for the lead. While this was happening Nanovich worked his way into third until he too suffered dramas and headed infield. Thomas Davies made his way into second but despite recording the fastest lap of the race, he had nothing for Ellement, with Ellement defeating Davies and Crofts.

Heat four was the final chance for drivers to earn points towards their feature starting positions, and it was Graham Terry who jumped into the lead. Steven Ellement started from the very back of the pack and somehow moved around almost the entire field to be in second place by the end of lap one. Winters fought back and went under Ellement to claim second but Ellement was having none of it and he raced around to take the lead. The yellows came out as contact between Johnson and Brad Warwick saw Warwick spear into the wall. On the restart Brendan Condren lost a wheel, with Terry also pulling out. On the final restart Ellement again raced away while Johnson moved into second and the impressive Glen Carstairs recorded another good finish in third.

The Formulas now have a fortnights break before their next event at the Perth Motorplex on December the 7th as support for the WA Sprintcar Championships. Stay tuned for all the latest updates!
