Kristin Brown has been one of the most consistent drivers throughout the opening rounds of the 2013-14 season Tyrepower 600 Series for Formula 500s, and last Saturday night at Kingaroy Speedway, she was rewarded for that consistency with victory in the fourth round.

After starting from pole position in the feature race, Brown blasted to the lead and quickly built up a handy buffer. Brown was in control of the feature race for its entire 12-lap distance, and despite a late challenge from her brother, Charlie Brown, she held on for the winning honours.

It was the first time that the Brown family had recorded a 1-2 finish in this season’s Tyrepower 600 Series. Joining the Brown family on the podium was current Tyrepower 600 Series leader Ryan Skennar in third place.

Newcomer Josh Pokarier finished just off the podium in an impressive fourth place. North Queensland Champion Cody Maroske started from position two in the feature race and sat in second behind Kristin Brown until dropping back down the order in the middle stages and finishing in fifth. Another fresh face in Simon Sullivan finished in sixth ahead of the final finishers Royce Harvey and Grant Harvey.

An unlucky Bryn Upshall was the only driver to fail to go the feature-race distance after he was forced to retire to the infield on the fourth lap.

Earlier in the night, the wins in the heat races went the way of Maroske (x 2) and Skennar. Other strong performers in the heat races were Kristin and Charlie Brown.

The fifth round of the Tyrepower 600 Series will be held at Archerfield Speedway this Saturday night (December 14).
