Two busy weekends of Formula 500 action have resulted in a pair of top-ten results for Broadwood Family Racing.
December 7 saw the team debut for the season at the Perth Motorplex, with a huge 37 car field entered. A dry slick track was the order for the night, and the team leapt out of the box to finish sixth in heat one after starting deep in the pack. The track caught us out in heat two and we backed up some spots, qualifying us 17th for the red number 17 Murphy.
Feature time saw the Perth 3MW supported machine come to life and we rocketed forward on the bottom to make up a number of spots. The event was slowed by a number of cautions and at the chequer moved forward to claim 8th in a fast paced race, after being in the thick of the action.

Last weekend December 15 the team made the two hour trip to Narrogin for the third round of the West Coast Series, with the temperatures upward of 40 degrees.
Heat one was tricky to say the least with the track very wet and we came home 7th. Heat two was much improved, grabbing second place on a racier surface.
The feature again was the time to shine. The BFR car was fast despite a misfiring motor and we once again moved forward in the longer A-Main event to take 8th for the second week running.

Coming up:
We will continue R&D on the car at the Perth Motorplex ahead of the Australian Title in March with the FAST racing series this Saturday Night December 21. Following the Christmas break, we will again head to the Motorplex for the Sprintcar Muster double header on January 3-4.
