Heading into the Formula 500 Speedweek Series, Cody Maroske was aiming to be a competitive force, but by the end of the series, he had managed to exceed expectations in impressive style.
A fourth place finish in the final Speedweek Series point standings was an outstanding result, and was highlighted by podium finishes at the Simpson Speedway (second) and Premier Speedway (fourth) rounds.
“I had a great Speedweek Series, and I certainly exceeded my own expectations,” commented the drivers of the Qld # 22 Woodeson Excavations supported Hyper. “Heading into Speedweek, I wasn’t too sure how I go for pace up against all of the southern drivers, but from the opening round, I showed that I had the pace to mix it with the front runners, and I grew in confidence from there onwards.”
For Maroske, the highlight, which also came with a bit of disappointment, was his second-place finish in the sixth round at Simpson Speedway.
“I had led the feature race at Simpson Speedway up until the closing laps, when James (Aranyosi) took the lead and the win away from me,” explained Maroske. “I was pleased to finish second on the podium, but at the same time, I was a little disappointed to be so close to a victory and fall short.”
Maroske will now have a break, and he will then contest the sixth round of the Tyrepower 600 Series at Archerfield Speedway on Saturday night, February 15.
Special thanks must go to Garry and Vicki Maroske, Jake Smith, Stephen Bell from Jettco Developments, Dave from T&B Alignments and Peter from McKinnon Quarries & Civil for all of their help and support.
