Ellement grabs Bunbury win!

Last Friday night Steven Ellement returned to racing in the best possible fashion as he claimed the feature race at QUIT Bunbury Speedway.

Ellement, who has missed some racing recently due to work commitments, didn't have it all his own way, as in the early going of the feature David Sinagra was leading until he blew an engine. Ellement however got better as the night went on and put on his best performance in the feature as he battled with Jason Priolo for the lead after Sinagras demise, while behind them Davies, Johnson and Andrew Priolo battled it out for third place. The two groups continued to fight it out, with Steven Ellement recording the fastest lap of the race and indeed the night with a 16.307.

As the racers received the white flag, with Jason Priolo leading, Thomas Davies spun, and Jeremy Saffin rolled his car as he attempted to avoid him. The stewards declared the race, but relegated Jason Priolo for what was deemed a questionable pass on Ellement for the lead, handing the race win to Ellement while Troy Johnson was elevated to second and Jason Priolo was officially third. Andrew Priolo was fourth while Matt Higgs had another good finish as he rounded out the top five.

The night got off to a great start in the opening heat race with the top three battling it out for position. As they crossed the line it was David Sinagra who eventually held off Jason Priolo and Brent Lockwood, with less than a second between the three competitors.

Heat two saw Andrew Priolo, the points leader heading into the round, score a comfortable win over Troy Johnson and Adrian Fogliani. In the process, he set the quickest time of the heat races with a 16.387 second lap.

The third heat of the night saw Thomas Davies outlast Jason Priolo and David Sinagra, while Steven Ellement became the fourth different heat winner of the night as he defeated Jeremy Saffin and Brock Nanovich.

The Racemate West Coast Series only has a weeks break this time around, with round five being held this coming Saturday night down at Albanys Attwell Park, south of Perth. Stay tuned for all the nominations later this week!
