Formula 500's WA -Big fields for Formulas

Once again the fantastic Formula 500's are leading the nominations list, with thirty three cars nominating for action this Saturday night at the Perth Motorplex.

The Australian Formula 500 Championship is drawing closer, with around seven weeks remaining and drivers are still getting themselves comfortable in their machines, sorting out any little issues to ensure the best possible performance for the title weekend.

This weekends nominations are headed by Track Championship points leader and last start winner at the Motorplex, Troy Johnson. He leads the championship by 45 points with four podiums, including his win and is looking to add another win this weekend. Every meeting this season Johnson has been right on the pace and last years rookie of the year winner is impressing many with his clean driving and consistent finishes.

Andrew Priolo is also nominated and is sitting in second place in the championship, with four podiums including one win, but a DNF has proved costly, seeing him lower than he would like in the standings.

Thomas Davies rounds out the top three in the championship and will be looking to improve on this over the weekend. He has two podiums including one win to sit in third, while Jason Priolo and Brock Nanovich round out top five, with all three ready for this weekend.

Other drivers in the field this Saturday night include Chris Dymock, Matt Higgs, Craig Bottrell, Steven Gay, David Sinagra and Brendan Condren. All these drivers know what it takes to win and are looking to assert their authority with some solid results.

This weekend also sees the first appearance of a few drivers, with Mark House returning for the first time this season after a successful campaign on the east coast for Speedweek, while Brad Davison and former Junior Sedan aced Jayden McCuish will also debut.

So far this year there has been fifty three different drivers competing in at least one round at the Motorplex and that number is only going to increase as the title draws nearer. An interesting fact is that only three drivers this season have started and finished all the feature races this season, those being Troy Johnson, Glenn Carstairs and impressive rookie Chanelle Condren.

As for who is going to win tonight? May as well draw a name out of a hat, the action is so close!
