Davies grabs second WCS feature!
Last weekend at Geraldton City Speedway Thomas Davies claimed his second win this season in the Racemate West Coast Series, racing his way to a solid victory ahead of Brock Nanovich and Todd Broadwood in the fifteen lap feature.
Davies led every one of the fifteen laps in the feature, recording the fastest lap of the night in the process, with a 13.794. Nanovich was second the whole distance while Broadwood grabbed third on the second lap and never looked back. David Sinagra held down fourth place for just over half the race before Aaron Fullgrabe ducked past and held the position right until the chequers.
Although it was a small field on hand, the crowd was still impressed by the racing put on across the night. Unfortunately Tegan Broadwood blew an engine in the first heat and was out for the rest of the night, while Trystan Caley struggled with problems all evening, essentially reducing the races to eight car battles.
The opening heat saw Davies defeat Nanovich and Sinagra in a sign of things to come while the second heat saw Todd Broadwood record a quick lap of 14.020 seconds on his way to victory. Broadwood led the whole race distance while behind him Davies held down second until Aaron Fullgrabe got the better of him to snatch away the place.
The final heat saw Broadwood again record the fastest lap of the race, this time a 14.660. In fact the time was set on his last circuit of the race but it wasn’t enough for him to chase down the leader, with David Sinagra recording the win by just less than a second ahead of Broadwood while Nanovich filled out third place.
One of the heartening things to come out of the weekend is the sense of community and sportsmanship that is within the Formula 500 ranks. Whenever a car had problems other teams jumped in to help get the car running again, all for the good of the division. Well done to all those involved.
Looking at the Racemate West Coast Series Championship it is Andrew Priolo who now holds down a slender seventeen point lead going into the final two rounds this coming weekend at the Perth Motorplex. Priolo has 525 points while Thomas Davies sits comfortably in second with 508 points. There is then a significant gap back to Brock Nanovich who has launched into third place after the weekends podium, sitting on 387 points. Troy Johnson is just ten points behind him in fourth while Jason Priolo rounds out the top five point scorers on 301 points.
Stay tuned as later in the week we will release the full nomination list for this weekends double header at the Perth Motorplex when the final two nights of the Racemate West Coast Series are supporting the World Series Sprintcars Grand Finale. The list nominated for this event is the biggest one so far this season and features a whole host of talent. It will be one you won’t want to miss!
