The good 2013-14 season form continued for Cody Maroske last Saturday night at Archerfield Speedway; after he drove to victory in the latest round of the Tyrepower 600 Series for Formula 500s.
Adding to his maiden Formula 500 feature race victory, the North Queensland Title, Maroske was able to come out on top of a strong field of drivers in the 20-lap feature race. He had started from position two in the feature race, but gained control of the lead from the outset. Once in the lead, he was never headed and went on to claim a comfortable win.
“It was great to get back into victory lane, and it’s a reward for all of my team’s continued hard work,” expressed Maroske. “Starting alongside Nathan Pronger, who’s currently one of the best drivers in the country, I knew that I had to make the start. There were a handful of stoppages throughout the feature race that helped me; because they came out just as I had hit lapped traffic, so the stoppages gave me a clear track.”
Maroske has enjoyed a solid debut Formula 500 season, which apart from his North Queensland Title win, includes other strong results such as a fourth place in the final overall Speedweek Series point standings and a third place in the NSW Title.
The plan for Maroske for the remainder of the season is to concentrate on the Tyrepower 600 Series.
“We’ve gained a lot of points with this latest round win, so I’m hoping to continue to collect consistent points towards the series,” Maroske said, who currently sits third in the Tyrepower 600 Series point standings. “I would have loved to go to Western Australia next month for the Australian Title, but my team is unable to fit it into the budget for this season, so the plan is to concentrate on the rest of the Tyrepower 600 Series and also the Queensland Title later in June at Mackay.”
