The thirty second running of the PTQCC Bunny Burrowes Memorial is drawing closer and the nominations are beginning to roll in.
The event, promoted by the PTQCC at Makit Hardware Narrogin Speedway on Sunday the 16th of March, promises to be one not to miss with a number of visiting drivers from the eastern states already nominating, along with several local stars.
The list so far is being headed by current Australian Champion Marcus Kelly. The Shearwater, Tasmania native has signalled his intentions early, racing at the Perth Motorplex last weekend to get some laps under his belt prior to the Australian Title. The night after the Australian title, win, lose or draw, Kelly, driving his Dutchman performance, Joinery Products sponsored machine has nominated to run at Narrogin for his chance at the $5000 winners cheque.
Joining Kelly will be Victorians James Aranyosi and Ash Sinclair. Sinclair, driving the Jason Ryan owned V51 is a 23 year old from Terang who has impressed many in his short career. Sponsored by PWR, JOES racing Products, Westanks, Jettco, Vortex, Warnambool Powder Coating and Victory Lane Race Gear, Sinclair will be looking for nothing less than a win after travelling across the Nullabor just be here.
Aranyosi is another who has made the journey and isn't here to just make up the numbers. From Geelong, driving the D & K Raceparts, GGS Bathroom Solutions, North Geelong Auto Electrics, Aranyosi Graphic Designs, R & J Batteries, ATR, DW Motorcycle Repairs, Bratt Race Engineering, Edge Chassis, Adams Performance #V50, Aranyosi loves the competitiveness of the class and is looking forward to the challenge of the Bunny Burrowes Memorial.
We have also had a trio of Queenslanders nominate so far for the race. Brad Metcalfe from Moranbah in his Q9 P I Technical Services, Rocky Resort, CFMEU Moranbah North Looge Spruck, MMT, Byron Industries, Jettco, PMP Chassis machine will be making the journey as will father and son duo, Alan and Kaidon Iverson.
Alan is a thirty year veteran and a former Queensland champion while Kaidon is twenty three years old and has previously won the Queensland Drivers championship. The duo will be supported by Norstate Industrial Supplies, Welders Mart, Paul's Cylinder Heads, Unique Mirrors and Glass and Gracie Signs and will be hoping for some solid results in their West Aussie trip.
Heading up the local charge is Craig Bottrell in his #15 Empire Graphics, AG Wings, Murphy Racecars, Asteel Powdercoaters, Maxima Oils, Robotitt Murphy Yamaha V6 machine. Although he hasn't had the best of luck this season, suffering multiple engine dramas, 33 year old Bottrell is always a threat when a little bit of luck goes his way.
Another West Aussie nomination is that of Graham Terry. Driving his Goldfields Truckpower, Deans Auto Glass, Western Plant Hire, Goldfields Sand and Gravel, Goldfields Electrical Contractors #46 machine, Terry will make the trip down from Kalgoorlie once more to compete in the weekends racing.
In other exciting news, the PTQCC is proud to announce that Catalyst Communication Rigging Pty Ltd is the naming rights sponsor of the event, as well as being the sponsor of two heat races. Therefore the event will now be known as the Catalyst Communication Rigging Bunny Burrowes Memorial. The Burrowes family are the main sponsor of the B again while other heat race sponsors include Nardini Bros Hardware – Narrogin, Birds Silos and Shelters, The Duke of York Hotel, Darling Downs Mechanical Repairs, Prestige Fibreglass, Janssens Transport, Empire Graphics and BM Racing Fuels.
