The 2013/14 Washpod Australian Formula 500 Championship is just eleven days away and with this latest batch of nominations being announced, we have surpassed the forty cars mark. Leading today's nominations are a trio of Victorians; Dylan Willsher, Tyler Beasy and Josh Fort.
Willsher, from Warrnambool, has been in Perth for a little while, competing in the last two nighter show at the Motorplex. Unfortunately it has been a little rough for him, rolling over, losing a wheel and not finishing either feature race over the two nights. Earlier this season he finished twelfth overall in the Victorian Speedweek Series and also won the Tasmanian title. He will be looking to improve on his results at the Motorplex over the title weekend and could be a big chance of claiming a podium finish.
The second Victorian nomination for today is Josh Fort. Hailing from Lara and driving his XXX Chassis, Josh has raced in America previously and will be looking to use the knowledge gained there and at tracks over east to help him in his title campaign next weekend.
The final Victorian of the trio is Tyler Beasy from Woorinen North. An Auto Electrician by trade, he recently drove his Stallard #10 to finish within the top thirty in the Victorian Speedweek Series and will be looking to get some solid results over here.
Heading today's local nominations is former WA State Champion David Sinagra. Currently sitting in the top twenty of the Track Championship, Sinagra finished seventh in the feature race last weekend and has recorded a best finish this season at the 'Plex of fifth. He has a new car this season and has been right on the pace and is already a proven winner. Come title time, anything is possible!
Gavin Connelly and David Carstairs have also both thrown their hats into the ring for the title weekend. Neither have had a good run lately, in particular Carstairs rolling over heavily at the last meeting. Despite their luck, Carstairs sits in tenth place in the championship while Connelly also holds down a spot in the top twenty. Both will be hoping to put their luck behind them over the two nights of the title and have a solid run.
Rounding out the nominations for today are Brad Davison and Jason Shaddick. Davison is another Kalgoorlie driver who has been competing at the Motorplex for the past few weeks and will be using the knowledge gained for a good showing during the title. Shaddick hasn't competed recently having only had two runs earlier in the year so will be looking to get a handle on the track quickly in order to record some good results.
The countdown is well and truly on and still with nominations to be released, we know the title weekend is going to be huge!
