In an announcement that is sure to excite all speedway fans, the Perth Motorplex and the WA Formula 500 Association are proud to reveal that the nominations for this years Washpod Australian Formula 500 Championship have surpassed the fifty mark and we have still got more to release!
We have another two interstate nominations to announce tonight and both are exciting young guns from the east coast.
Steven Van Ginneken from Warrnambool in Victoria is in his first year of competition and the young rookie recently ran fifth at Avalon Raceway in what is his best finish so far. The team has recently put a new Suzuki engine into the V5 machine and they are now ready to load up and head west to take on the best we have to offer.
Also heading across the Nullabor is Queensland youngster Cody Maroske. The young racer is one of the most professional racers in the business and promotes himself and all his sponsors incredibly well. He recently finished fourth overall in the Victorian Speedweek Series courtesy of a second place at Simpson Speedway after leading, then backing it up with a fourth place at Premier Speedway. He had another feature win before blowing his motor, which has now been replaced and he is certainly ready to make an impact at the title.
Brendan Condren is one of the local drivers who have nominated and he will certainly be looking for a change in his luck during the title. Despite having some good speed all year Condren, driving as part of the very professional Pryde Motorsports team, hasn't been able to convert it into a podium result. He recently rolled over, but the team has repaired the car and will have both the team cars, the second car being piloted by Chanelle Condren, on the track for the title.
Popular veteran Brett Janssen has also nominated for a tilt at the title and will be looking for a strong showing. Although only competing in a handful of shows at the Motorplex this season, Brett sorted some issues before then stripping his car down and rebuilt it ready for the title. Always with a smile on his face and ready to help anyone, Brett is a good addition to the title field and will be hoping to qualify straight into the a main event.
Yet another driver from Kalgoorlie has nominated, this time Graham Terry. Currently sitting inside the top thirty of the Perth Motorplex track Championship despite missing two rounds, Terry has been a consistent performer. A recent roll over put a dampener on his title preparations but the team has repaired the damage and are ready to have some fun at the title.
Adrian la Macchia only stepped into Formula 500's this year after previously racing Wingless Sprints and he has made the transition seamlessly. He has had a solid rookie season, showing some pace as he consistently raced towards the front of the field. He currently sits in the top fifteen in the Perth Motorplex Track Championship and has two best finishes of sixth place. He will be looking to build on these solid results come title time.
Aaron Fullgrabe is currently sitting in twelfth place in the Track Championship despite having some difficult runs, including the last meeting where he was unable to string together many laps. The hard charger from Girrawheen loves his racing and regularly helps out other competitors as they need it so a good result over the title weekend would be a just reward.
Tonight final nominee is another youngster, this time Aiden Prentis. Driving the machine that his father Jeff has been running for most of the season, Aiden will be looking to adapt quickly. He has shown some promise in previous meetings and should be a solid performer over the title weekend.
Stay tuned as tomorrow we will do two more releases to announce the final nominations of the 2013/14 Washpod Australian Formula 500 Championship!
