Formula 500's WA -Championship field nearly complete

Today is the day we announce the final nominations for the Washpod 2013/14 Australian Formula 500 Championships! Another eight are released right now, but who knows how many we will be releasing later today!

We have an exciting mix of rookies and experienced veterans nominated today, headed by the exciting Dale Sinclair. Driving the V95 machine, Sinclair from Terang in Victoria, is a former Stampede Series Champion and recently came fourteenth in the Victorian Speedweek Series. He improved as the series went on, qualifying into the B Mains before recording a best finish of the series in the sixth place at Darlington Speedway. He is heading west with the intention of nothing less than a win and is certainly a threat to grab just that.

He will be joined by fellow Victorian Rob Trewartha who will be piloting the Diablos Motorsport V92. A veteran of the division, Trewartha competed in only two rounds of the Speedweek Series, but still recorded some good finishes. He is heading across the Nullabor and will be hoping for a clean run through the title.

The local nominations are headed by the two car Multi Scaffold Racing team of Jason Priolo and Brock Nanovich. The duo, driving some of the best presented machinery in Australia, have had an incredibly consistent season and have been doing a good job keeping themselves towards the pointy end of the field.

Priolo, from Osborne Park, currently sits fourth in the Perth Motorplex Track Championships after recording two podiums at the track this year and recently wrapped up sixth place in the West Coast Series. Nanovich, hailing from Quinns Rocks, sits in fifth place in the Track Championship after his solid results included two fourth places so far. He also performed well in the West Coast Series and locked in a fourth place finish overall. The duo will be tough opposition for the rest of the field and will be hoping for a one two finish come feature time.

Tom Hooper is a new name on the scene this year, but he has impressed many with his ability to quickly find some car speed and challenge the more experienced competitors. He has done well enough so far to lock in a top twenty five position in the Track Championship and will be looking to improve that position. Although he has had a run of difficult finishes, including a decent roll over recently, Hooper is fired up for the title and will be giving it his best shot.

Glenn Sharpe has been around the Formula 500 scene for a fair while now, but this season he has stepped back a little for a few reasons. This has allowed his daughter Brooke-louise to focus on her own campaign, but now the father daughter combination will both be running over the title weekend. Glenn runs the number #38 (and Brooke-louise runs #138) in memory of Glenn's late cousin Brian Coombs, himself a popular and long serving Formula 500 driver. Although Glenn hasn't raced much this season, he will still be looking for a solid run at the title.

There are two more rookies to add into today's nominations. Casey Johansen from Narrogin hasn't raced too much this season and will be a little bit of an unknown quantity while Nathan Chapman has done a few country shows. Although neither has done many laps at the Motorplex this season so far, they will both be hoping for a solid run throughout the title.

Believe it or not, we still have some more nominations to release, so stay tuned for the final release later today. What will the final car count be? Not long now until all is revealed!
