Formula 500's WA - Title schedule and format!



There is just over a week until the first lap is turned at the Perth Motorplex for the 2014 Washpod Australian Formula 500 Championship. This is the first time the event will be held at the venue and there is a solid field of seventy cars nominated ready for action.

The racing isn't the only thing happening during the week in the lead up to the title though; there is official practice and of course the launch night. All details of those are below, as are some more of the details regarding the actual race meeting itself.

Night one of competition
Racing from 6.00pm
Each driver will compete in three heats. Heats are eight laps each.
Grid draws to be completed by the Formula 500 committee.
There will be three rounds of five heats, 14 cars per heat, for a total of fifteen heats for the night.

Saturday, 15th March, 2014
Perth Motorplex
Final night of competition
Racing from 6.00pm
Each driver will compete in one heat. Each heat is eight laps.
Overall points will determine starting orders for final: top twenty on points will qualify into a main with eight transferring from the B to make twenty eight starters. Positions nine and ten from the B main will be on the infield as reserves. Next twenty on points will qualify into the B with eight transferring from the C to make twenty eight starters. Next twenty on points will qualify into the C with eight transferring from the D to make twenty eight starters (dependent on car numbers). D main will be last group on points dependent on how many cars are left running.
D main will be held over eight laps.
C main will be held over ten laps.
B main will be held over fifteen laps.
A main will be held over twenty five laps.
