Broadwood Family Racing has finished up a busy week of racing, garnering an A-Main start in a very competitive Australian Formula 500 Title held at the Perth Motorplex on March 14 & 15. The team took in some R&D during practice on the Wednesday night, and leapt into the three preliminary heats on Friday where we finished with a third, fifth and tenth from the same exact same starting spots and wound up 25th overall for the evening. Night two saw us complete one final heat race where we forged up from 10th to be 4th after lap one with a great start but finished seventh in some close racing. This scheduled our BFR Murphy to start from seventh in the B-Main to attempt qualifying for the big dance. The B-Main saw the team finally show some real potential where we raced hard to grab fifth over the 15 lap event and transfer. The A-main was fast paced as expected and we made up four or five spots but came undone with some contact mid race with Chris Dymock. We pressed on but unfortunately had a suspension failure a few laps from home and ended up on the infield, officially classified in 20th. The next night (March 16) saw us also compete in the 2014 Bunny Burrowes Memorial at Narrogin Speedway. Our heat races were consistent, coming forward in each and ultimately we again line up 7th in the B-Main. We were not quite as lucky this time however, gaining one spot in a fast race with no yellows, ending up sixth, and two places outside of the transfer for the feature.
