For only the second occasion in the 2013-14 season, the Tyrepower 600 Series (Formula 500s) has produced multiple round winners, and that honour was achieved in last Saturday night’s eighth round at Kingaroy Speedway by Charlie Brown.

After emerging triumphant in the second round of the Tyrepower 600 Series at Archerfield Speedway earlier in the season, Brown, who had started from position two in the field, joined current series leader Ryan Skennar as multiple round winners. Brown managed to outpace pole sitter Skennar in second and Kaydon Iverson in third at the fall of the chequered flag for the 12-lap feature race. Skennar and Iverson did their best to challenge Brown, but they were unable to do so, and they were then left to fight it out for the minor places on the podium as Brown dominated proceedings from beginning to end.

Finishing just off the podium in fourth was Charlie Brown’s sister, Kristin Brown. Behind Brown in fourth came Ross McAteer, Brenton Finney, Scott Farmer, Bryn Upshall, Adrian Farrell and the final finisher Royce Harvey.

The only non-finisher of the feature race was series front runner Cody Maroske. The former Australian Junior Sedan Champion, who was making his second appearance aboard the Qld # 4 Dale Shilleto-owned car, was disqualified for hitting the restart cone on lap seven while running in second behind Charlie Brown.

Gary Edwards was unable to start to the feature race due to problems in his heat races earlier in the night.

In the heat races, the winners were Charlie Brown (x 2) and Maroske. Despite not recording heat-race wins, Skennar, Iverson and Upshall performed strongly.

The ninth round of the Tyrepower 600 Series will be held at Archerfield Speedway on Saturday night, April 19.
