Good field for PTQCC opener at revamped Kellerberrin!
A solid field of ten formula 500's have thrown their hat in the ring for today's opening meeting at the revamped Kellerberrin Speedway, the second meeting of the PTQCC season.
Headlining the list are the two stalwarts of the PTQCC: Brett Janssen and Bill Richards. Both have been competing regularly at Kellerberrin over a long period of time, but the changes to the track, including the widening, the installation of barriers and the change in banking will mean that these two are almost back at square one. They will need to use all their years of experience to stay out in front today.
Making a welcome return to the Formula 500 ranks today is Jayden Higgs. After a few seasons on the sidelines it will be good to see Higgs out there turning some laps and looking at the machinery he has under him, it won't take him long to be on the pace at all.
Also making the trip to 'Windy Hill' is the father daughter team of Glenn and Brooke-Louise Sharpe. Brooke-Louise competed regularly dying the summer season with some impressive results, while Glenn hasn't competed as often, but will still be a threat.
Taking the field of females to a total of two today is Tegan Broadwood, daughter of the legendary Bill Broadwood. Tegan debuted last season with the PTQCC and has run a limited campaign since so will be looking to get some more seat time.
Another to have debuted last season with the PTQCC and making his return today is Daniel Worth. Driving the #68 machine with help from Bryan Mullings, Worth has shown some real talent behind the wheel and will look to continue developing that today.
Tom Hooper and Jeff Ross have both also nominated, and both are a realistic chance of taking today's win. They both competed regularly during the summer season and each have spent some time learning their machinery and will want to put that into practice today.
Today's final entry is Brendan Wright, another relative newcomer to the division. He has competed around WA in the last few months and will be hoping that his travelling will help him out today.
It is going to be a great day at 'Windy Hill' Kellerberrin Speedway today, with pits closing at 10.30 and racing starting at 12pm. Make sure you take a short trip on the highway today to see the revamped track and all the competitors fighting it out for opening honours!
