La Macchia Masters Windy Hill!

Today's Perth TQ Car Club event at Kellerberrin Speedway saw ten Formula 500's make their way up the highway to complete in the next round of the A1 Catalyst Communication Rigging Services Pty Ltd sponsored series.

It was Adrian La Macchia who raced away from the field by the end of the feature, but he didn't have it all his own way in the early going. Ryan Higgs was the early feature leader and drove away from the field, building up a solid gap.

La Macchia then put in some solid laps and did a great job then to chip away and eventually catch Higgs before executing a perfect pass, going on to build up a good lead. Higgs maintained his second position, while Nathan Chapman continued his good day, claiming third place.

Earlier in the day, the opening heat was all La Macchia as he raced away to the lead and never looked back, crossing the line ahead of Higgs and Jeff Ross.

Heat two saw the yellows come on early with Ryan Higgs finding himself spinning infield and not restarting. The second attempt at a start saw Hooper pull a wheelstand with cars behind him appearing to check up and Sarah Zemunik seeming to ride a wheel, sending her upside down in a big way.

Nathan Chapman took control of the race at the restart and was well in front when second and third placed Brendan Wright and Tom Hooper tangled, bringing the yellows on and seeing the race declared. Hooper was sent rear for the incident, leaving the official results as Chapman the winner ahead of Wright and La Macchia.

The third heat saw Ryan Higgs this time take the lead early. He was closely pursued by La Macchia and Hooper as they fought it out for second. As the race wore on La Macchia headed infield, allowing Higgs to take the win and become the third different heat winner in as many races, crossing the line ahead of Hooper and Wright.

With the way that the rookies stepped up this weekend, the next meeting is sure to be a cracker so make sure you are trackside at Windy Hill, Kellerberrin Speedway on the 5th of July for the PTQCC open points day supported by the Late Model Development Series and featuring the A1 Catalyst Communication Rigging Services Pty Ltd Formula 500's!
