Well it’s been 3 long weeks since members of the Townsville F500 Club have hit the track and to say they are, chomping at the bit, is an understatement. Six drivers, across 3 tracks, are set to do battle with Queensland’s best drivers this Saturday night.
Coming off the back of competitive outing’s last time in Brisbane, Kaydon Iverson and Bayden Ellston are keen to repeat their top 5 finishes. Ellston Motorsport drivers, Bayden Ellston and Nick Scholes have enjoyed a relaxed build-up to round 2 of the Tyrepower series, as they left their team transporter and cars in Brisbane. With no cars to work on, they have concentrated on preparing their race motors and spares as they hope to turn around Nick’s unlucky start to the series.
Rockhampton Showgrounds is hosting Round 1 of the Rocky Rumble. Last time feature winner in Rocky, Alan Iverson and track debutant, Clint Anderson are making the 9 hour journey to take on 11 other competitors. This will be a valuable hit out for the pair as the Rockhampton track plays host to next year’s Australian Title.
The last track we visit is that of Cairns. Todd Stevens is looking to reverse a horrid outing last meeting in which he endured a race 1 roll and an engine failure while leading the Day 2 Feature. He has been burning the midnight oil to get his car back in one piece and with the help of his fellow Townsville F500 member’s looks like he will make the grid. When quizzed on whether his car would be ready on time, he responded, “Without the help of the Ellston and Iverson motorsport teams there would be no chance, but all things going to plan my car should be back together in time.”
Townsville F500 club wishes all their members the best of luck this weekend.
