Once again the upper echelon of WA Formula 500’s have put on some great wheel to wheel racing and for the second time in as many meetings at the Perth Motorplex, it was Troy Johnson who won the feature and was crowned the ‘King of Kwinana’.

Johnson started from the front row of the feature, with Tim Hooper quickly into second. Behind them was Thomas Davies, Matt Brown, defending King of Kwinana Steven Ellement and Adrian Haywood all fighting it out for supremacy.

Hooper didn’t let Johnson get away, with the two racing in close proximity until the race went under red lights for Ashleigh Oldfield who went for a tumble after contact with another spinning competitor.

The restart saw the battle resume, but Hooper couldn’t quite get the pass done, while Davies behind them was threatening, in the end Johnson crossing just 0.232 seconds ahead of Hooper, with Davies just 0.306 seconds behind him.

A thrilling finish once again, with the Formula’s putting on great action all throughout the night.

Earlier heat wins were shared by Johnson, Brown and Davies.

The Formula 500’s now have a short break before returning to the Perth Motorplex on the 19th of December, or for those who are keener, a show the night before in the FAST Racing Series on the 18th of December.
