For the second KRE F500 Championship Series round in a row, Charlie Brown last Saturday night at Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway claimed the winning honours.
In the feature race, Brown, who had qualified on pole position, managed to pace the field for the entire 15-lap distance and went on to score a solid win.
Despite the best efforts of both Ryan Skennar and Scott Farmer, they were unable to challenge Brown and had to settle for second and third place finishes respectively.
In what was another impressive performance, rookie James Kennedy finished just off the podium in fourth ahead of defending KRE F500 Championship Series Champion Kristin Brown, current Queensland Champion Kaydon Iverson, Tristan Johnson, Phil Roberts and the final finisher Bryn Upshall.
Iverson had the most spectacular incident of the night, but it occurred after the fall of the chequered flag in the feature race. Iverson rode the wheel of another competitor in the field and was then sent into a series of wild flips. Although Iverson managed to escape injury from the accident, the same couldn’t be said for the car, which was heavily damaged.
The non-finishers in the feature race included Royce Harvey, Adrian Farrell and Brad Van Elswyk. All three drivers were outed within the opening laps of the feature race.
The heat-race action resulted in wins shared between Johnson, Charlie Brown and Skennar. Other strong performers in the heat races were Kristin Brown, Upshall and Iverson.
Newcomer Piper Ogilvie completed all of the heat races, but was unfortunately unable to take her place in the feature-race field.
The seventh KRE F500 Championship Series round is going to be held at Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway this Friday night (January 1).
