The Flying Formula 500’s will once again return to the high banks of the Perth Motorplex this weekend and after some simply awesome racing in recent weeks, this weekend’s double header is sure to be absolutely epic. A strong field of twenty three cars have nominated for the two night show, with races on both Friday and Saturday for the exciting pocket rockets. Headlining the field for this weekend’s show once again is none other than ‘Showtime’ himself, Troy Johnson. Johnson has been in strong form recently, claiming the last feature at the venue, making it three wins and two second places from five shows. He leads the Motorplex Track Championship and will be looking to extend that lead this weekend. Tom Hooper is currently second in the Championship, having claimed two seconds and two thirds, but thus far unable to break through for the win. With two nights of competition this weekend he will be throwing everything he has at the feature to ensure he claims that win. Luke and Jamie Nardini are third and fourth respectively in the Championship and after some consistent results for both drivers, including a recent podium finish for Luke, the fast duo will be hoping to break through for that win this weekend. Matt Brown has claimed one win at the Motorplex this season and would love another, while Steven Ellement has also been able to finish on the podium and is hungry for another one. Add in a whole host of other very quick drivers including Shane Andersson and Chris Dymock and we have all the makings of yet another massive show. A number of drivers are also using this weekend to make their grand return to the Motorplex with Ben Stockdale, Trystan Caley and Gavin Connelly all nominating, while newcomer Daniel Beamish has also signaled his intentions to run this weekend. Glenn Carstairs also returns from an eastern states racing trip and will be hopeful that what he learnt over there serves him well. It is set to be another huge event for the WA Formula 500’s, who have been very entertaining at every show so far this season. Make sure that you are at the Perth Motorplex for both exciting nights, with it all kicking off this Friday night, and bring someone to hold onto!
