Steven Ellement has tonight gone back to back as he claimed his second feature win in two nights at the Perth Motorplex.
Ellement was in a class of his own as for the second night in succession he grabbed the lead early, but this time with the field going under green as a massive flash of lightning lit up the night sky.
It didn’t faze Ellement though as he continued to race away, with Tom Hooper once again in hot pursuit.
Matt Brown was further back in third, but he too wasn’t giving up as the leading trio worked their way through lapped traffic.
Though both Hooper and Brown tried valiantly to catch Ellement, they simply couldn’t garner enough speed, with Ellement claiming the win from Hooper and Brown.
The opening heat of the night saw Ellement and Johnson sharing the front row and although Ellement grabbed the early lead, Johnson was quick to move around the outside and take over the point. Behind them Shane Andersson and Cameron McKenzie had a spirited battle for third, with Johnson eventually winning over Ellement, Andersson and McKenzie.
Heat two saw Matt Brown leading from the get go, with Chris Dymock quick to jump into second place. David Carstaors maintained third place for eight and a half lap before heading infield, leaving Brown to cross a big winner by nearly four seconds over Dymock, with another three seconds back to third placed Brock Nanovich.
In the third heat it was Luke Nardini quickly to the front and he was never headed as he built up a huge lead and defeated second placed Cameron McKenzie by nearly four seconds. The final heat was another whitewash, with Tom Hooper winning by over six and a half seconds over Johnson, who was then relegated for passing on the infield, with second officially being given to Trystan Caley.
The Formula 500’s now have a break until early February when the next round of the West Coast Series will be held at Manjimup Speedway.
