Formula 500s -Iverson’s Season of Highs

Kaydon Iverson has enjoyed a solid 2015-16 season, after some pleasing results, which was highlighted by recently picking up the win in the KRE F500 Championship Series.
Iverson, who has been a model of consistency throughout the season, scored second place in last season’s KRE F500 Championship Series, so naturally he was extremely pleased to be able to improve on his previous result.
“It was a great feeling to go one better in the KRE F500 Championship Series this season,” expressed the former Queensland Champion.
“I was consistent throughout the Series, and although at some rounds, we were a bit off, we were still able to come away with a good haul of points and it was one of the keys to my Series win.”
The 26-year-old racer from Townsville in North Queensland achieved two feature-race wins and four minor podium places in the 12-round Series, clinching the win by 36 points over Ryan Skennar.
Earlier in the season, Iverson steered his SQ # 5 R6 Yamaha-powered PMP car to victory in the annual Alex Walker Memorial event at Bundaberg’s Carina Speedway, but his season wasn’t without low points.
At Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway on Boxing Night, he managed to finish the feature race in sixth; however, after crossing the line at the end of the race, he was hit by another driver, causing extensive damage to his chassis and engine and resulting in Iverson having to revert to a back-up car. His team managed to fix the Tony Cochrane-owned car later in the season, allowing him to continue his season unhindered.
The Australian Title at Gunnedah Speedway (NSW) saw Iverson finish in second place behind winner Liam Williams. After starting the feature race from position seven, Iverson managed to work his way into winning contention, only for a late yellow light caution halt his momentum and he had to settle for second.
“It’s been a really strong season for us, and one of the highlights was our run at the Australian Title, but it left me with the thoughts of what might have been had that late yellow light not come out,” Iverson commented.
“We’re looking forward to taking some time to regroup in the off-season and coming back even stronger in the 2016-17 season.”
Iverson would like to thank his 2015-16 season major sponsor Mainstream Automotive, as well as other sponsors: TC’s Racing & Mechanical Services, JAK Industries, KRE Race Engines, Kratzmann Caravans and Lucas Oil Products. Special thanks: Tony Cochrane, Graham Ogilvie, Steve Thorley, and his girlfriend, Courtney Mittereger.
