Bill Richards is a name that has been synonymous with Formula 500’s over many decades now, right across Australia. The long-time competitor has been piloting his famous #44 around almost every track across our great country over a long period of time and has become one of the most recognizable characters to grace our racetracks. Bill, who chose his number after his father was in the 44th platoon, has won the WA Title on one occasion and come home second three times, not to mention being part of the divisions’ administration on a State and National level, including as part of the PTQCC. It is for these reasons that this year, Formula 500’s WA Inc are proud to announce that Bill will be recognized at this year’s WA State Title, to be held at the Margaret River Speedway this coming weekend, Saturday the 2nd and Sunday the 3rd of March. There will be an optional feature race on night one for the dedication to Bill, to be known as the ‘Bill Richards 44 Salute’ Starting positions for this race will be determined by the highest points from the first two rounds of heats on night one of the State Title. All qualifiers for the race will receive a medallion, with the winner of the race receiving a plaque to be presented by Bill himself. This race has no reflection on the end result of the state championship. Congratulations to Bill and we hope to see as many of you as possible this weekend for the WA Title and the Bill Richards 44 Salute! Release by DTN Media.
